Path Finder is an alternative from Cocoatech LLC to Apple’s Finder app with its exceedingly mediocre history. Path Finder offers a wealth of features, including a dual-pane layout to facilitate file copying; batch renaming; surprisingly extensive Undo (e.g. for Copy/Move/Rename/etc.); file tags and full-size color labels; a file-transfer queue; folder sync and merge; file permissions and ACL (Access Control List) editing; access to hidden files; secure delete; a “stack” to facilitate dragging and dropping; smart sorting; file list filtering; advanced/low-level searching and selection; tabs; bookmarks; text, image and hex editors; support for a variety of archive file types (zip, gzip, dmg, sit, and more); Dropbox integration; an integrated Terminal window and command-line tools; source control; and more.
Path Finder 9.0.2 is priced at $36 (3-Mac license) for OS X 10.11 and up with a free 30-day trial period. Older versions are available for Mac OS X 10.6 and up. The company is working on a new version, soliciting suggestions from current customers (with a 20% discount coupon for completing a survey).
We are busy continuing to improve Path Finder 9. A new build is due in a week or two that addresses a few minor issues. We are also starting to plan and build features for Path Finder 10. Let us know what you would like to see in Path Finder 10!
